MOVING MOUNTAINS
EST 2005

A band from the state of New York.

“Pruning Of The Lower Limbs, their first album for Wax Bodega, stands as an effortlessly beautiful reawakening for vocalist/guitarist Gregory Dunn, drummer Nicholas Pizzolato, bassist Mitchell Lee and guitarist/pianist Joshua Kirby, reigniting the most inescapable parts of their musical souls in ways that are equally urgent and introspective. There’s magic in each subtle, slow-burning crescendo, the sound of a band reenergized to be back together.” - Evan Lucy

Months before we finished the record, we picked a date to fly Kirby out to the east coast to film a music video. It would be the first time we all got together to play music since our shows in 2015. We had assumed the album would be done by then (it wasn’t). At this point, we still had not re-entered the studio to re-record the drums with Nick, or the bass with Mitch. The first version of the album had been mixed and mastered, but we made the decision to start over.

We rented a rehearsal room the size of a closet and ran through the song “Ghosts”, which would become the first track on the record.

I had connected with Britain Weyat earlier in the year, both on recommendation, but also because I was a fan of his work with Balance & Composure and Webbed Wing. We were all excited to collaborate together. We filmed at Studio North, just outside North Philadelphia.

Seemingly unprepared, we did not have backing tracks while filming. So we performed the song live probably 40 times. Which was actually helpful, and doubled as a practice session. Nick re-worked some of the drum arrangements in the ending of the song that ultimately made it to the record.
